Easy & cheap meals for the group!
Since we rotate who brings food each week, here are some ideas for meals that are both easy and cheap!
- Baked Potato Bar ($5 bag of potatoes, tub of sour cream, couple bags of shredded cheese, small tub of butter, optional bacon bits/chives should be under $20, vegetarian-friendly)
- Spaghetti (noodles, sauce, loaf or two of garlic bread; optional salad and meat for sauce - easily do-able under $20, vegetarian-friendly)
- 7-Bean Soup (bag of dried beans soaked overnight, couple of cans of tomatoes, and optional additives and spices, cornbread or biscuits as a side, vegetarian-friendly)
- Pizza (You can order something like the 5-5-5 deal from Domino's and usually tack on an additional pizza, so like 4 mediums for $20 ish, add a cheese-only and it's vegetarian-friendly)
- Chili (kind of a variation on the 7-bean soup, add a cornbread to the side)
- Taco Bar (beans or meat, various cheese/tomato/lettuce/sour cream)
- Enchiladas (Chicken, cheese, tomato sauce and tortillas; make one pan of bean instead of chicken for vegetarian-friendly)
- Salad Bar (Salad w/ various fixings, add a few grilled sliced chicken breasts so those who want meat can add this as an option)
- Chicken Pie (chicken breasts, carrots, lima beans, cream of mushroom soup and can chicken broth with Bisquick topping - make a couple for group-sized portion)
- Casseroles (any kind of casserole that you can make a couple of dishes full of)
